SMC welcomes new additions to hospital staff
Dr. Chet Gregory, family practice physician, and Dr. Peter Lau, family practice physician, have joined the staff at Sabine Medical Center and will serve the area both through the hospital and rural clinics. Both physicians have relocated from Shreveport, Louisiana where Gregory and Lau completed medical school at Louisiana State University Medical School. Dr. Gregory joined the hospital clinic in Many while Dr. Lau has joined the hospital’s clinic in Zwolle. Both are specialty trained to treat the entire scope of family medicine from infant to senior adult.

Groundbreaking Ceremony set to kick off new construction phase
Led by hospital Chief Executive Officer, Chris Beddoe, and other political and corporate representatives, SMC was the site for a “Groundbreaking Ceremony” that kicked off the massive renovation project that are scheduled to take place and are now underway. The ceremony had a great turnout of several supporters that were excited about the changes coming to the hospital. The changes, which consist of a face-lift, reconfiguration of the Emergency Room, and a new large, spacious lobby are scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2010.

Hospital Supports 34th Annual Zwolle Tamale Fiesta through the purchase of Poster
The 34th Annual Zwolle Tamale Festival Poster Unveiling was held at the Zwolle Fair Grounds Thursday night and hospital CEO, Chris Beddoe, not only attended the festivities but was the proud owner of the 34th Anniversary Poster by way of auction and a check for $750.00. Keeping with his vision of creating a “community-based” hospital and supporting other community programs and events throughout Sabine Parish, the CEO was impressed with the tradition and hard work put in by the Tamale Committee year in and year out to host such an event. He commented that he hopes that the same hard work and dedication can be demonstrated by the hospital and the employees that serve the people of Sabine Parish.
